The BIG DUM DRUM MACHINE is an oversized drum machine for use in public spaces. The BDDM has one goal to achieve: Real time interaction with audio and visuals, the antithesis of traditional arcade game goal scenarios. The choice of materials is based on the investigation of consumer culture and the potentials for reinventing discarded electronics.
The BDDM combines audio, video, printmaking, and sculpture to provide an interactive drum performance module. The CRT TV set is to provide an oscilloscopic visual feedback for the 6 voice drum machine. The visual feedback acts as a link between audio and visuals for a call/response experience. The controller surface is silkscreened with Bareconductive Ink allowing a real time interaction with the BDDM.
