The Man in The Machine, 2018
 - Teaching Televisions about singing
 - Multimedia Electronic Instrument

This project evolved out of many late nights experimenting with contact microphones and electromagnetic pickups. I came across the VCR's inherent musicality after comparing the pitch of the main line of electricity and its main VCR head. The pitch relationship between the two results in a near perfect fifth, which is a supporting chord in musical terms.

This discovery provided the perfect opportunity to consider a VCR as a performance instrument, rather an idle play back machine.

Here's a link from a recent performance.

BIG DUM DRUM MACHINE
AQUA ART MIAMI, 2018

The BIG DUM DRUM MACHINE is an oversized drum machine for use in public spaces. The BDDM has one goal to achieve: Real time interaction with audio and visuals, the antithesis of traditional arcade game goal scenarios. The choice of materials is based on the investigation of consumer culture and the potentials for reinventing discarded electronics.

The BDDM combines audio, video, printmaking, and sculpture to provide an interactive drum performance module.

The CRT TV set is to provide an oscilloscopic visual feedback for the 6 voice drum machine. The visual feedback acts as a link between audio and visuals for a call/response experience.

The controller surface is silkscreened with Bareconductive Ink allowing a real time interaction with the BDDM.
